FlashTrek: Broken Mirror

"Awesome"

date: May 22, 2005

This was an amazing game, reminded me of a sort of cross between Escape Velocity (by Ambrosia Software) and Star Control.

I don't really have the time to get too in-depth just now, but it looked amazing!

Bunnykill 3 Vol.1

"Really cool"

submission: Bunnykill 3 Vol.1

That was some excellent work!

When you started out with BunnyKill it was very much just good madness-style animations with bunnies, but with this one I think you've finally established a true style of your own with the more 3d-esque scenes and wonderful artwork both foreground and background, and a lot of close-combat mixed in with the gun-fighting really did it for me.

Looking forward to part 2!

Plus it's nicely timed that you'd have lightsabers today of all days ;)

SFVS Episode #2

"If your humour rivalled your art..."

submission: SFVS Episode #2
date: May 18, 2005

Your artwork is really good, very nice style and the animation is sound too. The sound effects were so-so, got the message across.
The humour however was sorely lacking, the whole "Windows is error prone rargh I'm so angry I'm sure some random violence will ensue" thing is a bit overdone, and the sound-effects for it are so common that they are a bit annoying unfortunately, though that's really Windows' fault not yours.

The second one was a bit predictable, since you can clearly see what's going to happen, if it had just randomly happened it would be more interesting.
The third was the best, but still not executed that well, the lack of sound led to it feeling "slow" so it lost it's effect.

I look forward to seeing more movies featuring your artwork, but the humour needs some work. Try throwing random violence ideas at a few friends and see what the resultant ideas are, you usually get something interesting that way!

Author's Response:

Yeah I seem to get the notion that my humor aint soooo hot... but I laugh. Thanks for the indepth review... they're nice to see and too far in between. Thanks man!

old wink game thing

"Cool"

date: May 16, 2005

This is some nice work there, I gave you a seven for interactivity though due to the bugs which I felt really damaged the experience for me (randomly walking through walls or floating through the air, and the doors/platforms apparently not working correctly (one would only extend if I was standing at a specific point, a point whereby I simply could not jump onto it before it closed again).

I don't want to be too harsh on the bugs though, this is a very fun game with lots of promise, if you do work out the worst of the bugs then I think you should resubmit it as a version 1.1 or something, so it can get the mark that it deserves!

Burnt Face Man 3

"Hrm"

submission: Burnt Face Man 3
date: May 14, 2005

It was okay, but I think that most of the humour was at the start ("Pretend you didn't see him"), but wasn't your best. I think it's the same with the whole Burnt Face Man series so far as although it has some moments, it's not really funny enough.
I don't want to discourage you though, but more/better humour would be welcome, there be some somewhere in that head of yours =P

"The Fox and the Mirrior"

"Very well done"

date: May 11, 2005

This was beautiful, and very well made, I'm impressed that you had the determination to complete this as a hand-drawn piece!
I'd love to see a coloured version done in Flash though, maybe as a special edition?

Very good work, and I love the fox character.

"Interesting"

A very strange game concept, however when you get the hang of it is actually pretty fun.

I think that the instructions could be a bit clearer, or having little animating pictures of someone clicking on the scroll to get the next blessing.

For those of you who don't know, to get the next blessing you must CLICK ON THE SCROLL!

As you click on the scroll it creates the blessing at the bottom (ie which moves off the scroll) which you then must catch. Blessings are not created automatically all the time, you have to click on the scroll! Can't stress that one enough.

Fun game once I got used to it though.

And for you people who are voting 0 because you didn't understand the game, just vote 3 instead because you obviously don't understand voting either. If something is a good idea, looks great but is hard to understand, that doesn't mean it's all bad which is what zero votes should be reserved for!

Author's Response:

Good Defense! Thanks for the support. Regarding the scroll things, you can just click ANYWHERE, the scroll gives a blessing everty time it detects a mouse click.

Brink Of Alienation

"Very fun"

date: April 21, 2005

First up, the people who have given you ratings of zero deserve to be shot more than the aliens do, it's sad to see that so many reviewers allow personal bias to get in the way of reviewing, just because they died or got stuck does not mean the whole game sucks.

The game in-fact was brilliant fun and I actually exhausted all of my 'credits' before I gave up (speaking of exhausted I might try it again when I'm less tired!). Although the graphics looked like they'd make the game seem bad at the start, they really do work and they work well, and excellently complement the gameplay which is great fun!

One two minor gripes: the blue shockers on the ground cause too much damage, personally I'd prefer for these to be easier to jump or less damaging for when you fail, because they are hard to get past (on my first credit I made it to the hiding alien, I lost all the others trying to get past the first set of shockers again).
Secondly is that enemies with guns damage you almost immediately after you enter the screen, it would be nice if the enemies who hide behind things would start off hidden rather than firing, that way you've got a chance to go "oh crap" and duck before your face gets shot off, I didn't like having to remember to crouch down before leaving an area just to be sure I wouldn't die horribly before I could react.

All in all a very fun little game and I'm glad it got the front page place that I feel it deserves for being so enjoyable!

Author's Response:

thanks alot for your review! Although i'm not gonna change this game, I will definitely take what you said into consideration while I make the next one! Thanks man, i liked ur comments
